Have you ever seen Dr. Pimple Popper? It’s this crazy show on the TLC channel that features the practices of a Dr. Sandra Lee. Dr. Lee is this badass dermatologist that helps people suffering from crazy skin issues like zits, blackheads, infections and warts. Dr. Lee is someone I would love to have on my intergalactic space team! Imagine landing on some foreign planet and someone gets infected with some alien infection. While everyone is acting like a giant pussy and trying to avoid touching anything sticky and icky, she would dive in there and just fondle an alien mucus sack with a shit eating grin. Then she would post it on YouTube. That’s how awesome Dr. Lee is and if you ever get a chance, go ahead and checkout the show. It’s hilarious and full of gross pimple popping.
I always wonder what her most disturbing stories are? When I was young my mom and my aunt were nurses and I can remember some of the hospital horror stories they’ve encountered. I was always fully invested into the stuff about rashes and anything protruding where it shouldn’t be. One story that freaked me out was of this old guy that came into my aunts hospital. He had this huge lump forming on his body and it was black and pussy. I guess it smelled rank when they cut it off but my aunt made a joke that it was probably his dead twin or something. But he had it for years and wouldn’t get it checked out. I for one agree with him! What if that lumpy sack of flesh was his twin brother or even a baby! He could have kept it growing and nurture it like it was his own. Just this creepy old guy and his little benign friend. I loved that story and remember drawing a comic of it. It’s also probably why the “body horror” sub-genre has always been a favorite of mine and one reason why the discovery of a new movie called Cyst looks so damn awesome!
It was directed by Tyler Russell and stars Greg Sestero, Eva Habermann and Jason Douglas. I can’t find much about the film other than it’s about a doctor that performs a surgery on some guys cyst. The cyst turns into a monster and goes on a killing spree in the hospital. Kind of a simple premise which means we’re in for a butt load of gore and disgust. Probably a great deal of camp and humor as well. Either way, this trailer is so awesome and it makes me wish more trailers were this simple. It’s only eighteen seconds long and is pure insanity. Just enough gooey awesomeness to get me hooked. I also love how the poster is reminiscent of a better time of horror.
This looks like one of those movies I want to force my wife to watch. She’s a nurse too so it’s not the gross factor that I love getting out of her. It’s the “I can’t believe you watch this shit!” kind of reaction I am wanting. You can tell right off the back that the movie is real campy and full of absurdity. But I love absurdity and always find a place for it in my heart. From what I can tell, it is extremely gory and full of moments that makes me think of old exploitation films. The killer skull with fingers makes me think of 1982’s The Thing and there is a definite nod to corny Silver Age monster flicks like. Mix this in with some good old fashion slaughter and gore and you’re gonna have a good time!
Also, can I just say that this poster is absolute balls to the wall! I mean, who doesn’t love a horror movie poster that is illustrated and reeking with gooey detail. Look at this poster! It tells you everything you need to know and acts like a perfect bait. I honestly wish more movies would do posters like this. The artwork alone is enough to demand much respect and one movie I truly want to see!
If anyone knows where I can find this movie then please let me know!
